NARRATOR: A long time ago, there was a rich land called Ibalong. There were heroes in this place that fought many monsters to maintain the peace in this place. The first hero was Baltog.
BALTOG : I should go to dark forest to vanquished those roaming hideous monsters on that place. After that I
should stay here to protect them and teach them how to cultivate its field and plant gabi with them.
NARRATOR: Baltog came from Botovora of the brave clan of Lipod. That is why one night a wild boar known as
Tandayag saw the fields and destroyed the crops. Upon knowing it, Baltog search for the beast.
BALTOG: The beast destroyed the crops. He must pay for what it have done! I will assure that. I’ll go in the woods
and destroyed it as my revenge.
NARRATOR: After all the searching, he finally found the beast. With all his courage and strength he wrestled with Tandayag.
TANDAYAG: You can’t beat me! Humans are far weaker than I know. I’m strong and no one was ever beaten me!!
BALTOG: Is that what you think! I’ll make you eat what you have said!!!!!
NARRATOR: And so the battle begun, although the beast had a very long fangs, he was able to pin him down. They
wrestled until Baltog broke Tandayag’s very big jawbones, and there the monster fell and died.
BALTOG: I will bring this broken bones of Tandayag to the people of Ibalon for them not be afraid anymore
because this is the evidence that I’ve taken down the monster. All right, I should be walking now.
NARRATOR: As Baltog presented the so called evidence. The people of Ibalon cheered for Chief Baltog.
PEOPLE: Long live Chief Baltog!!! Long live! Long live!! Long live!!
NARRATOR: After this victory, there came our second hero...... Handyong. Together with his men, he had to fight
thousands of battles and face many dangers to defeat the monsters.
HANDYONG: I and my men will fight all of the monsters who will come to our way! We will restore peace in this place.
We will search the wild to kill those monsters who wants to harm people.
MAN1: Handyong!!! There are flying giant sharks called Triburon who killed many people and they’re going to
get us!
HANDYONG: Have no fear my friend for we will assure you that we will protect you and kill that beast! Boys! Off we
go!! We’re going hunting.
NARRATOR: And then they left, leaving those people with hope that they will defeat that scary beast.
MAN2: Shh! Shh! I found something that had hardly flesh and a sawlike teeth that could crush rocks. Is that
what they call the Triburon?
HANDYONG: Aha!! We found the beast it is sure is strong for it could crush rocks with it’s sawlike teeth. But that’s
Not an excuse! We should kill that monster for our fellowmen.
HANDYONG: I will name this place Ligmanan. It will be a place where there is no superior, masters and slaves will be treated equally. I’ll teach you how to built boats so we can be able to ride the waves of Ibalong’s seas.
NARRATOR: Because of this happenings, Ligmanan was a great success. They made things that can be useful for
them like the first loom for weaving abaca clothes, stove, cooking pot, earthen jar and other kitchen
utensils. People of Ligmanan learned to furnished their language by syllabary and started writing on
marble.
HANDYONG: I think this is going to be the end for me. I can feel it, there’s going to be a huge destruction that will
destroy almost everything. So you people must prepare the fast approaching danger.
NARRATOR: After that, a big flood came caused by Unos, with terrifying earthquakes. Several volcanoes erupted
. Rivers and seas gone wild . Destruction everywhere. Soon, earth parted, mountain sank, a lake was
Formed and many towns were ruined.
RABOT: What a nice place! (looking at the ruins) I should build my army right here.
NARRATOR: People heard him and they got frightened, they worry with the same question running on their minds.
Who will be fighting against Rabot. And there came our third hero, Bantong.
BANTONG: Worry no more my dear fellowmen I was ordered to kill the new monster in Ibalong. And I will never fail
you! I assure you that.
NARRATOR: Full of hopes! People rejoice for their hero came to save them from another great danger. They cheered
For him! And wish him good luck for his battle.
PEOPLE: Bantong we trust you!! We know you can do it! Long live Bantong!! Long live!! Three cheers!!
BANTONG: We should not celebrate yet because Rabot might see us and he’ll then be prepared for us. So let’s just
Stay calm and let me do my work.
NARRATOR: So Bantong, started his journey to slay Rabot. Because he has a great mind, he didn’t attack the beast.
BANTONG: I must observed the monster first to know what it’s weakness could be. He’s half-man and a half-beast,
I will go to the giant’s den to have a better observation.
NARRATOR: After all the observations, he found out that the giant loves to sleep during daytime and stayed awake at
Night. Therefore, he had an idea.
BANTONG: I know what I’m going to do, I will wait until the giant will sleep so soundly not knowing it’ll never going to wake up forever.
NARRATOR: After the wait, he got his chance and cut the giant into two with his very sharp bolo and without any
struggle, Rabot died. So Ibalong was at peace once more.
